Niagara SkyWheel closed

I’m not sure how long it has been closed, or why, but the Niagara SkyWheel is closed at the moment.

It may have something to do with the weather. We had a small ice storm on the weekend (I’ll post on that tomorrow) and it seems like everything has a thin layer of ice on it. It’s warmed up a bit though, so I would expect that it would reopen soon.

dam!..what timing..my folks are going to the falls this weekend and are really looking forward to goin on the wheel for the first time..well..hopefully it’s not for much longer..but yup..the ice certainly is a good reason to close it..safety is way more important..

According to the Quality Inn Clifton Hill the SkyWheel has been De-Iced and is back up running

Sorry Lisa…the SkyWheel isn’t open yet, they are still trying to de-ice it. We thought it was running because we can see it moving but it isn’t ready for customers yet. It may be ready tomorrow but we aren’t sure. Sorry for the misinformation.

I guess whomever emailed my from Quality Inn was incorrect will check my email. Glad you posted because I planned on coming tomorrow but, if I am not sure it is up and running I will stay home another week. Thank you Louise.

Yeah, it was like this the first day I arrived (1/17).
Over the next few days it opened up and I rode it on 1/22 for the first time, it was very cool.
