Continuing with my posts on the Marilyn Monroe and the movie “Niagara”, Marilyn Monroe and the Making of “Niagara” is a book that was authored and published by George Bailey. As the title suggests, it is all about the making of the movie. Mr. Bailey worked for the Niagara Parks Commission, and has written several books.
The book contains information about what happened while the stars were in Niagara Falls, dozens of behind the scenes photos, the public’s and critic’s response to the movie, as well as interesting facts and trivia. For instance, there is one scene were Rose (Marilyn) drops her purse and George (Joseph) bends over and picks up a lipstick container that fell out of the purse. It was really Marilyn’s purse and her lipstick and not a studio prop (see page 18 side note).
This book was self-published, and so is very rare. I couldn’t find it at all on Amazon or for sale on eBay. The only place I could find it was through ISBN searchs at BookFinder4U and BookFinder.com
